What Made Milwaukee Famous - Sweet Lady - MP3

I got to see Austin-based foursome What Made Milwaukee Famous last night at The Young Avenue Deli. I chatted with the band before the show and mentioned that they should expect a less than stellar turnout as on Thursday nights a lot of people flock to beer bust in Memphis. Of course, they had no idea what Beer Bust is - (it's when you pay 5 bucks at a bar and drink as much beer as you can all night).

They seemed kind of perplexed as to why this would make a difference, but alas, that is the mentality of Memphis. We already have a shitload of good local bands, so people don't go out of their way to check out unproven out-of-towners - which is good and bad: good for me, cause I get to see great poorly attended shows by up-and-coming bands where I can sit at the bar and not have to worry about not seeing the performance. Of course, it's bad for the band, in terms of making any money, and bad for Memphis, cause these bands don't usually come back after they have gained some popularity. It's a terrible cycle.
