Knoxville's Tenderhooks release debut record
Tenderhooks, a great power-pop quartet from Knoxville that I recently discovered, released its debut album, Vidalia on Rock Snob Records on back in June. Produced by Don Coffey Jr. of Superdrag fame, it's an assured collection of twang-tinged American power pop that hints at Cheap Trick, the earlier Wilco stuff, and some of the best Southern rock. The combination of band's great songwriting and stellar live shows has earned them a dedicated regional following, and a spot in this past summer's Bonnaroo festival. Give 'em a whirl, I say!
