10-Foot Gibson Guitar Sculptures Make Final Public Appearance at ACL Music Festival Before Auction Gala on October 17
if you are headed to ACL, be sure to check out the 30 10-foot Gibson guitar sculptures, seen on Austin streets for nearly a year as a part of the Austin GuitarTown public arts project, that will be on display during the 3-day Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park this month - their last public appearance until October 17 and the auction gala at GSD&M's Idea City to sell them to benefit four Austin non-profits.
5 of the guitar sculptures (each created by local artists) will receive premium treatment backstage so ACL performers can autograph them.
Austin GuitarTown commemorative art books will be available for $25 at the Waterloo Records & Video booth during the Festival, with proceeds benefiting Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, American Youthworks, Austin Children's Museum and Austin Museum of Art.

WHO: Austin City Limits Music Festival producers chose and officials of Austin GuitarTown, which was administered by the Gibson Foundation, agreed that the sculptures should be the featured art exhibit during this year's Festival, a tradition since its inception.
