Best of 2006 - Lord T of Lord T & Eloise
Sometime over the summer, the alter ego of Lord T, of the illustrious Lord T & Eloise, invited me to come out to his "ride" and listen to some new tracks he had just "dropped" verses on. I have to admit, at the time, I thought that we were going to go get "busy" in his back seat, however, he actually just wanted me to listen to his new music project. I immediately christened the music the greatest I had heard that day and the rest is history.
All kidding aside, this little side-project has taken on a life of it's own and caused quite a stir in Memphis. Lord T & Eloise were certainly the first act to ever sell out The Hitone with their very first performance - ever. Good thing they lived up to the hype. They have also fixed the problem of not having an album.

1) Bonnie Prince Billy - "The Letting Go" - Simliar in mood and sound to "Master and Everyone," this record helps lull Lord T and Eloise into deep restful sleep. It a serene and beautiful pastoral record. Think of Aix En Provence during the fall.
2)Yo La Tengo - "I am not afraid of you....." - Ever DIY industrious, the Yo La team has put together another sonically diverse record that pulses like a train at times and vibes ambiantly at others. This one is good for the highway and the carriage.
3)P-Unit - "Tea Partay" - Okay, so this was a media phenomena - a viral video to market smirnoff - but it is fucking well done and funny. They make you wish they were doing this for real, but I believe it's just a one hit wonder - definitely worth the watch on youtube.
4)The Dears - "Gang of Losers" - This one is an import, which we love becasue we import all sorts of things. I dont know what to say about this record other than it rocks and you should listen to it.
5)Gnarls Barkely - "St Elsewhere" - This record is simply brilliant. Everything about it is good. Cee-Lo's soul singing, the songwriting, the sonic quality, etc etc. Everyone has heard it by now, but we urge you to listen to it again and again and again.
