The Glass Lose Minus
Bad news for Scenestars favorite The Glass. After 3 and 1/2 years, Justin Minus plans to leave Memphis to pursue a more stable income than that of a rock guitarist. The Glass has been touring steadily for the past two years, a tough schedule for Minus, who is married and has a son who turns 2 in January.
"He's doing the right thing, and we're behind him 100 percent," says Glass singer/guitarist Brad Bailey.
The band has six new songs it considers its best to date, and plans to record a new album, Soundings in Fathoms, in the fall. And since Justin is kind of irreplaceable, they'll continue as a three-piece for now.
"Concorde was a good record. Hibernation was a good rock record. But we believe that we've learned what The Glass sounds like," says Bailey. "We believe The Glass could truly make a great record."
There's a chance Justin will return to play with the band at the Ted Leo and The Pharmacists show Sept. 12 at the Hi-Tone.
