The Lonely Hearts - Heartbreaker

I can't tell you how pleasantly surprised I was to hear Nashville's The Lonely Hearts when they opened for Jamie Randolph at his CD release show at The Hitone a few weekends ago. I immediately heard an early Wilco influence and was drawn to the stage from my normal seat at the bar. Lead singer Will Holland's confidence and swagger coincided perfectly with the music.

It's no secret that the band's name is an obvious reference to The Beatles, but while the lyrics are well-crafted and literate, the music has more of a Ryan Adams twang then the Fab Four, it's more americana than british invasion. Supposedly Holland and his brother Josiah, cuurently the keyboard player in The Lonely Hearts, started out in an emo band named Holland on Tooth and Nail. I'm not sure what made them come to their senses, but I'm sure glad that they did.
