Mutemath - Stare at the Sun

Some friends of mine opened for Mutemath at The Omni New Daisy in Memphis a couple of weeks ago. So, by chance I caught part of their show. They didn't really hang out back stage, so we drank their beer. When they did finally come backstage, they locked themselves in their dressing room, the singer did come out and hang out at the merch table for a little while, but I didn't really interact with them much. Anyway, they landed on the Atlanta's Creative Loafing's top ten bands to watch in 2006:

Mute Math has been developing its original amalgam of pop, indie-rock and electro sounds for a few years now, with astounding results -- an early 2006 club tour to celebrate the release of the band's debut full-length was largely sold out. Like acts such as Brothers Past and Ambulance LTD, Mute Math refuses to stick to any particular genre, producing an ambitious, sophisticated and inimitable signature. Unlike those two examples, however, Mute Math keeps it raw, imbuing its melodic style with homemade instruments, cheesy, old-school synth sounds, and a shitload of all-ages scene energy.
