Mellowdrone - Oh My!

I first wrote about Mellowdrone on this website back in 2004. Their song Fashionably Uninvited off the now out-of-print EP A Demonstration of Intellectual Property got raves for weeks after I posted it. I even got an email from as far away as Iraq:

Subject: sending a big cloud of (thank you)s all the way from Baghdad....

Which I hope will leave you drenched in little glittery stars

Mellowdrone are so beautiful and I have never heard Aimee Mann before.

And would you please thank [Mark GoodFella] for giving us the heads-up on the Daddy G mix for DJ Kicks. I have bribed and threatened a friend in the UK to buy me a copy and it’s now in the mail.

Pretty cool. You used to be able to go to Mellowdrone's website and download the whole EP. Now that their making their opfficial label debut, I have a feeling the man put an end to that. And if you live on the west coast you can check them out at Spaceland this month, their doing a residency there. If you email them, they'll even put you on the list so that you don't have to pay. Check out their Myspace profile if you wanna keep closer tabs on whats next for them.
