The Elected - Not Going Home

I was into The Elected, Rilo Kiley frontman Blake Sennett's side project, before I ever really caught onto Rilo Kiley, and most likely before you had heard of either. I'm just kidding. Anywho, I have always felt a little sorry for Blake Sennett, skipping his Rilo tracks to bask in the blinding glory of the "girl with hair the color of a Pacific sunset, a voice as sweet as an ice cream cone, and a wit sharper than a razorblade."

But it took the split solo record releases of the dueling forces behind the indie super band for me to be able to recognize who it was that I truly loved in the first place. See, even though I have a girl-crush on Jenny Lewis and have enjoyed her solo album immensely for the past several months, I now see that it is Blake that is truly behind the style that I love so much in Rilo Kiley.
