Like their delightful fellow countrymen Belle & Sebastian, the band called My Latest Novel generate gorgeous Scottish folk pop that transports me to open fields covered with sun rays and fallen leaves, making me long for a coat to bundle up with as I wait for the last glow of the day to cast shadows on the grass. By no means a copycat of B&S, My Latest Novel's immediate and epic indie rock folk balladry is inviting and playful without any sinister edges. The sincerity of their delivery makes these songs refreshing, and I am looking forward to hearing more from them. The band's debut LP is just finished recording, and they are currently touring the U.K. and Scotland opening for Arab Strap to excellent reviews. Enjoy these two tracks which are featured on their homepage, and look for their LP to be released in the U.K. early next year.
