The Concretes - Miss You
Lately, however, I have come to love The Concretes (a lot) who just happen to have last week released a new US exclusive compilation of B-Sides and rarities entitled Layourbattleaxedown. This as a follow up to last summer's self titled debut has me looking forward to what else they produce.
Like The Cardigans of the new millennium, The Concretes are typically Swedish and typically aurally pleasing and typically featured on a bunch of Target ads or something. Oh wait, it wasn't Target ads that brought The Cardigans down, it was Romeo and Juliet. I mean, maybe it didn't really fuck shit up for them, but it did throw them into that ubiquitous one-hit-wonder category despite the fact that they were somewhat more deserving of acclaim beyond that (until recently.)
Hopefully The Concretes will fare better. Or not, you know. Whatever.
P.S. Ordinarily I wouldn't post the band's only cover as the primary sampling of what they can do, but it just so happens that I'm going through a phase and in this phase I firmly believe that "Miss You" is one of the best songs ever written. So that's why. To make up for it, here's an original : New Friend :
