Weird War - AK-47 (Sample)

The bass lines and echo effects tumbled slowly over a backing lounge track as Ian started calling out seemingly random letters in what some people thought was a mic check. To the educated they were initials for guerilla groups across the globe: PLO, FMLN, etc...

The dubbish intro hopped into an R&B groove like a shabby Prince and kept hopping while Ian moved around the stage half creeping and half dancing and forcing out lyrics about an AK47. The rest of the set was pretty similar, minus the dub but plus lots of feline-esque screams.

It completely seems like something I would like but for some reason it seemed trite. The Ian is Ian Svenonius who has been riding this counter-revolutionary "thing" for going on 18 years (since the formation of Nation of Ulysses). I have no problem with that, I mean I just finished reading a book about Geurillas. But it may have been his incessant between song idealist dialogue that turned off the jaded hipsters. It would have been better suited for an all ages hardcore show, back when hardcore was actually politically motivated and not karate-dancing inundated. But alas, it lacks wicked breakdowns.
