The Glass - Burn the Village

Hipsters looking for irony need not apply, cause The Glass are serious. However, there's no lack of metaphor, simile, allegory or metonymy on their latest album Hibernation. It plays out like a page from of a literary magazine. If you're looking for an easy listen, this might not be for you. The Glass make you work for it. But as many of you know, often times those records that make you dig for the meaning are the most fulfilling.

The making of this album was a journey in itself. Most of it was finished when famed Easley-McCain Studios in Memphis burned to the ground in early March of this year. This was the studio where such seminal recordings as Wilco's A.M., Pavement's Wowee Zowee, The White Stripes' White Blood Cells, and Modest Mouse's Good News for People Who Love Bad News were all recorded. The Glass lost about 80% of their record and ended up re-recording the entire album in 7 days at a cabin in Heber Springs, AR.

The Glass set out to make a record of intelligent rock. They succeeded, you win.
