Twilight Circus Dub Sound System - Shaka Version

Dub is essentially the tweaked out B-sides of a reggae song in which the vocals have been dropped and effects are added. What's notable about Twilight Circus is that he, Ryan Moore, makes just the b-side. Just the dub, there is no actual reggae song. At least there wasn't with his earlier work. He's kind of working backwards in that now he's making songs with actual vocalists such as Big Youth, Luciano, Brother Culture, etc...

This track came from a promo CD many moons ago but can also be found on The Essentials Collection. It's fuzzed out and echoed up with a deep bass groove. Exactly the kind of track to which you can space out. To be honest I didn't listen to much reggae or dub until I heard this track and maybe some others. It got me hooked. I call it my gateway dub. Now I've moved on to the harder stuff like King Tubby and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
