Aberfeldy - Love Is An Arrow

Remember after the runaway success of Pearl Jam and Nirvana, every band that had ever played a gig in Seattle got a record deal? Well, it seems the same thing is going on over in Scotland. The big difference is that all of the bands don't sound exactly the same, and dare I say - they're all surprisingly good in their own way. Well, to me at least. But I digress.

Aberfeldy, often describes as an Edinburgh indie-chamber pop quintet, is the kind of upbeat folk rock that you wanna listen to while driving to a picnic in your convertable. The song themes are a little dour, but they're wrapped in happy-go-lucky melodies that let you examine real emotions without wanting to shoot yourself in the head. Mostly written by lead singer Riley Briggs, in order to make the record sound fresh and different, Aberfeldy recorded it in a retro way. They used one mic as they recorded the songs barbershop quartet style. Love is a verb and a noun as well, you'll find it in the dictionary under hell. This song was fittingly released on Valentine's day this year. Love is definitely an arrow.
