Yura Yura Teikoku - Karapo No Machi

Psychedelic rock has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity recently as evidenced by re-issues from Gandalf and 13th Floor Elevators along with the Love, Peace, and Poetry compilation series. Swedish psych purveyors Dungen saw their 2004 release "Ta Det Lungt" receive a 9.3 from Pitchfork. And Brazil's Os Mutantes have always had a following.

Japan's Yura Yura Teikoku has been around since the end of the 80s but only recently (1998) became the psych-pop phenomenon they are now. I've actually only heard this handful of mp3s that I'm offering you because my order has not yet arrived but I couldn't deprive you any longer. The songs are pretty eclectic, ranging from 60s pop and R&B to psych to a dark-wave sound ("Dare Dakke?").
