Romeo Void - Never Say Never
They had a unique blend of jazz, funk-rock atop smokey hard egded sax and the darkly intelligent lyrics of Debora Iyall, that all in all made this San Francisco area dance/think band stand out. Thier four-song EP, Never Say Never, co-produced by Ric Ocasek, of The Cars fame, launched them into the public eye and recieved some serious air/club play.
Debora Iyall was a woman that has an skewed outlook on life and had a talent for creating a jagged view of it in here lyrics. Here sexy voice can sometimes lead you away from the words of a woman who has been hurt badly. But she takes these past experiences and wraps them up in a sung / spoken package that we can all relate to.
You can buy thier, CD Warm, In Your Coat, which collects material from Romeo Void's three albums, as I had a helluva time finding a lace to purchase Benefactor.
