A healthy obsession with all things T-Rex and Marc Bolan are something all of us can relate to. Well, okay...all of us that have a healthy obsession with T-Rex/Bolan. There are at least two bands at SXSW this year who will be pulling their influence from the wayback machine and strapping it to their backs. The first of today's Bolanites are San Diego's favorite sons, Louis XIV. Without wearing the outfits, Louis XIV have still taken it to that other level where you sit back and listen in the thrill-laden lip gloss twinkle of their unashamed idol worship. They know all about the rock and and they know all about the punk and...somewhere in between they know all about the punk rock, too. I love the way they have neatly lifted the early-'70s T-Rex, Gary Glitter, and Bay City Rollers-influenced sound and made it their own. You can catch them at La Zona Rosa on March 17th at SXSW, or if you're just chillin at the crib and you aren't Austin bound, you can pre-order their record, The Best Little Secrets Are Kept, from Insound.
