Tunnel Clones - Heads in our Pocket

Can you say back to 93' without going backwards? Being a local producer, and advocate of underground Hip-Hop, my favorite thing to say about this album - is that I feel behind. Way behind. Divine simplicity here. This album is focused, the sampling is clever, and the delivery is on point without the usual braggart overtones. Just local Memphis talent doing their thing and loving it with or without your approval. Local legend DJ Redeye Jedi, along with lyricists Boscoe and Rachi, slicing up the beats here with classic Hip-Hop sensibility, laced with the power and feeling of prototypical Memphis Soul music. The lyrical content challenges the listener to take it back to the roots of things. Having fun. Standing your own ground. Believing in yourself. As well as breaking political and social cliches. They also teamed up here with Zeke, D-Macc and others, and feature cover art by local graf-icon Codak. Mixed by local musicians and recordists Scott Bomar and Leo Goff, and mastered by Larry Nix, the Tunnel Clones' debut Concrete Swamp is a fertile ground of reputable Memphis culture.
