Shivaree - Little Black Mess

Shivaree is the alliterative form of charivari. It's a regional term that basically means "a noisy mock serenade for newlyweds" and probably came from a late Latin word meaning "headache." However, Shivaree's latest release Who's Got Trouble (the name of the album was inspired by Casablanca) is not likely to give you one. Ambrosia Parsley's dark yet playful voice makes most of the record sound like a sinister lullaby. She laments over gothic-style americana in a cooing child-like voice that draws you in and wraps you in yearning.

Although their debut I Oughtta Give You A Shot In The Head For Making Me Live In This Dump was well recieved everywhere except the US, the inclusion of the song Goodnight Moon on the Kill Bill II Soundtrack seems to be what got them noticed here in the states. So, can we take a moment and give thanks to Tarantino?
