MU - Paris Hilton
Thanks to the crew at Output Recordings for giving me the heads-up on this stankin' slice of electro-funk, paying back-handed tribute to everyone's favorite overexposed blond socialite.
"Paris Hilton" is the first single on MU's second album, "Out of Breach," due out in February. MU comprises vocalist Mutsumi Kanamori and producer Maurice Fulton, famous for years' worth of funky, organic beats on labels like Nuphonic. I was lucky enough to catch one of Fulton's DJ sets last year in New York, but I'd never heard him come with anything like this. It's seriously acidic, squelchy and demented business for all you new-wave Lower East Side types.
