Kings of Leon - Taper Jean Girl

I've had the new KOL album for about a month now, courtesy of my new year's eve trip to Amsterdam. I've probably listened to it at least 25 times, and I still can't totally wrap my head around it. KOL are often cited as being from Nashville, but actually they are from the Millington/Munford area, which is right outside of Memphis, so I've known about them for a while, but was scared away by their collective mullets. See, if you live on a coast you may think it's cool and ironic to wear a dirty 70's concert t-shirt and a trucker hat, but I've got uncles that have rocked that look for twenty years and I personally don't think it's that cute. But hey, I'm not here to disect their wardrobe (however, they have cut their hair and look 100% better.)

So here's the deal. The music on the new record Aha Heartbreak is flawless. However, the lyrics are a bitter stream of consciousness that, although I can decipher, seem a little, well, immature. Anyway, in all reality, they're young, and they're writing about their experiences which are decidedly male, so it makes sense that I don't totally relate. But hey, I don't have to be into Led Zeppelin to be able to realize that they're a good band, right? Be sure to check out the new video for The Bucket on their website.
