Got wind of this upcoming album, Natural Fake, from a pal over in Germany (thanks T). Not to be released until Feb 2005, De-Phazz is staying in line with their down-tempo grooves but have added a new, deeper level of funk to the mix. Always the pervader of chilled jazz and lounge laden sophistication, toned in with an impressive array of vocal and musical talents - Pit Baumgartner has a knack for enlisting others to create his modern-loungadelics. He seems to have honed his sound - not being quite as cheeky as past works. Not that those are any less groovy. There is some serious decade swappin' goin on in this album - heavy on the late 50's and dosed with a good slab-o-70's. All pieced together in a modern way that doesn't leave ya with that nasty pop aftertaste.
I for one am looking foward to hearing more of this when it is released. Tunes for your lazy, loungin' in the sun day with a smarmy drink kinda gig to be sure.
