Beck - Hell Yeah
Ok, ok, ok. Calm down, people. Yes, it's true, Beck's new album has been getting passed around the internet, much to the chagrin of some and much to the delight of everyone else. If you know me well (and there's only like 10 of you who do), you might be tempted think that I'm about to share this track because I've got some kind of beef. For you people who don't know, I wanted to (but never got to) audition to be the human beatbox for Beck on his first tour. Susie, you're out there, you remember that afternoon show at the OK Hotel in Seattle? I have no reason to be bummed out, though. The beatbox job was taken by Chris Ballew (yes, the same Chris Ballew who later went to superstardom himself in the Presidents of the United States of America), because...well, frankly, he couldn't beatbox nearly as good as I could but he could play bass & Beck really needed a bass player. So, okay. Call me bitter...? Nah, no bitterness at all, Beck is still the fucking man & he always will be and I think this album proves it. He hooked back up with The Dust Brothers and, hoo boy...if you heads liked Odelay, you're in for a treat. Here is just enough of a taste to make all of you want to start saving your bottle caps, trading cards, and food stamps for the next few months -- doesn't look like it's gonna drop until March.
