Casino Versus Japan - Over Island

So, on those days when I don't want to clutter up my head with lyrics and want something that wraps itself around my head with 100% electro bliss - I pop in Casino Versus Japan. There aren't many electronica artists of this genre, atmospheric trance (I guess, but the over labeling of music really irks me to no end), that still appeal to me - but Eric Kowalski does a fine job of this. His deep synth washes out of the speakers in oddly melodic tones that reverb around the room like so much thick, warm, well scented air - that kinda perfect 70 degree kinda feeling - but with an edgy vibe unlike anything I have heard. There is something cinematic about his works. I am reminded of the The Higher Intelligence Agency's first album, Colourform - but much, much deeper.

This album, Go Hawaii, is a good primer for those that have never heard his works before. Quite etherial laced together in a very loose manner and hinted with chilled hip-hopish beats - all lovingly designed to float ya off into a cozy warm place. Don't get me wrong - this is not happy-go-lucky meditation music - he is able to create dream like states without that nasty new-age aftertaste. It pulls you into outer-space but somehow keeps your feet on the ground - but with some damn skippy and extra cozy slippers on.
