The Bens - Bruised

So, here's the story I heard from a friend of a friend of a friend. Fans of Ben Folds, Ben Lee and Ben Kweller went on their respective fansites and started the idea of the three Bens coming together and making a record. Coincidentally, the Bens all just happened to have plans to tour Australia the summer of 2003 independently. However, when they caught wind of the online rally to get them together, they decided to go into the studio, record a fews songs, put out an EP and tour together. The fruit of their labor was the 4 song EP The Bens.

It was really hard to choose what song to post from this album. Each song is completely different. There's a folk song, an indie-rock song, an 80's influenced jam and new wave track. They are all excellent, and even though I usually throw in a couple of bonus tracks, it's bad etiquette to post half the songs from the album. Each Ben takes the lead on one song on the record. Kweller's song is Stop, Lee's is X-Fire and Fold's is Bruised. Then they all come together with equal contribution on the track Just Pretend. Bruised is my favorite track today, as Ben Folds is my favorite artist out of the three. Last week it was the Kweller song, next week it will probably be the Lee song. The only thing for certain is that it's all about the benjamins.
