"Pizzicato" is an italian past participle, which means "pinched", as a musical direction it is generally used to mean that the strings of an instrument should be pinched (not played with a bow, as normally expected). At any rate - this is music that makes one desire to go shopping with an unlimited, pre-paid credit card in a very colorful, over-lit and well stocked, mall - in the best way possible. Being the fore runners of the Shibuya-kei scene, Pizzicato 5 are among the most popular Japanese band to date with a large fan-base here in the states. Deconstructing pop from as early as 1979, they show no signs stopping while creating some of the funnest music on the planet. As for myself, I can usually only stand one album a month or my blood-sugar level goes to the point of rendering me unconscious.
