I have had this thing (call it a quirk) for strolling into flea-markets, thrift stores and seedy yard sales in search of albums that, at first glace, give me that "oh, that is so not right" kinda feeling. I usually used this material when making mix tapes and CD's, but it went far past that point when I realized that I was putting these records on for listening pleasure. I learned VERY quickly not to shave while most of this stuff was playing. Everything from various instructional records to kids recordings to those 'special' albums made by one-armed organists to school bands comprised of mentally challenged youth - GOLD!!!
This weeks offering is one of my favs. John Rydgren, a noted radio-jock, recorded a radio-program called "Silhouettes," in which he rapped over current (late 60's & 70's) pop hits. Very original and always quirky - he floats from the mundane to deep acid-head philosophy. Listen on...
