Soundtrack week could not occur without Quincy Jones. He brought soul jazz into the living room when he found his niche as the lord of the TV theme song in the late '60s and throughout the '70s. This one is from "Smackwater Jack," arguably Q's best album. The opening of the Ironside theme is now infamous due to its association with Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill." But it originated from rather odd a late '60s cop show starring Raymond Burr as a tough-but-fair, wheelchair-bound police detective that always "got his man." The show is difficult to find in syndication, but it's actually enjoyable, should you find the chance to see it. It is the very quintessence of America in 1967. I would write more, but work is stupid. No one should have to do it.
