Pleasant Grove - Elaborate Son
These guys from Dallas have renewed my belief that something cool can come from Texas. After watching the RNC this week with all the idiots in cowboy hats and xmas lights, I was a little worried for the lonestar state. Anyway, this track off The Art of Leaving sounds like the intro to a movie that I want to see. Pleasant Grove play sad songs that say so much. It's the soundtrack to your melancholly life. I got into them after reading a review calling their sound Garth Brooks meets The Flaming Lips. What? I don't know how much I agree with that desciption, but it certainly got my attention.
