Passage - Creature in the Classroom

I bought the new passage LP, "Forcefield Kids," about a month and a half ago. I have listened to it several times, but I still haven't decided whether or not I like it. For that very reason, I love it. Passage (with his solo material and his work with Restiform Bodies) is by far the most "out there" of the experimental hip-hip pantheon on the Anticon label. "The Forcefield Kids" is an electro-pop meets heavy metal nightmare with its hair on fire. It is unyielding and difficult, but it is equally innovative and unique. Passage probably possesses that sort of genius that we'll only begin to understand 20 years from now, and even then it will take 20 or 30 close listens before neophytes are truly able to get through the staccato production and high-pitched flow in order to grasp it. Hip-hop really is the natural cauldron for the production of the John Coltranes of our generation, is it not? "Creature in the Classroom" is probably the most accessible segment of the "The Forcefield Kids," and it becomes even more listenable out of context. Interestingly, it is one of the few songs that actually can stand alone, hence its release as a single.
