Keane - Somewhere Only We Know
I've been listening to Keane's Hopes and Fears for a couple of months now, trying to figure out how I feel about them. When I saw the video for Somewhere Only We Know I was drawn in not only by the earnestness of singer Tom Chaplin, but I really dug the piano player. The thing is, there's always been something that kept me from really loving this album. When listening to it I kept having this strange deja vu, like I had heard these songs in another life. They all sounded vaguely familiar, but I couldn't figure out why. Then tonight when I saw the new Victoria's Secret commercial with this track in it, it all came flooding back. They remind me of the Air Supply concert I attended at 15 with a boy who won tickets from a radio station. I thought it was for a laugh, until he tried to hold my hand. That's the feeling this album gives me, slight uncomfortableness, like I wanna like them, but there's just no raw energy and I don't want to hurt their feelings.
