At the risk of inspiring massive amounts of ridicule, I am hereby admitting that one of my favorite songs in the world is by the Steve Miller Band. "Serenade" is a great example of the apex of Miller's psychedelic "space blues," but even more, it presaged underground New York disco and no-wave about five years early (1976). As much as I might have hated to admit it when I was way too cool to enjoy the creator of "Take the Money and Run," without Steve Miller much of the music that I love the most would not exist.
